About the Cover

Cover Figure

The Journal of Experimental Medicine 190 12 Cover picture: Macrophages in the process of ingesting IgG-coated red blood cells via their Fc receptors. The bottom panel shows normal macrophage membrane ruffling 10 min after encountering the particle. After 1 h, more than 90% of the particles have been completely engulfed. The top panel shows macrophages in which the function of the GTPase, dynamin 2, has been inhibited by expression of a dominant negative mutant form of the protein. Even though particle binding is unimpaired, membrane ruffling does not occur and particles are not internalized even after 1 h. See related article in this issue by Gold et al., 1849
