The Journal of Experimental Medicine 190 11 Cover picture: PbCTRP, an adhesive protein­like molecule of the rodent malaria parasite Plasmodium berghei, is essential for its infection of the mosquito vector. Giemsa staining shows mosquito midgut-invasive stage parasites (ookinetes) cultured in vitro. These parasites appear normal but completely lack their infectivity against the vector due to disruption of the PbCTRP gene. See related article in this issue by Yuda et al., 1711
