About the Cover
Cover picture: A Salmonella typhimurium infection in mice elicits an inflammatory response resulting in derangement of the liver parenchyma. Sections of mouse liver were immunostained for hepatocytes (outlined in purple), macrophages (pink), and bacteria (green and yellow), and visualized using confocal microscopy. This projection on an 8-µm-thick section shows the massive infiltration of macrophages into the liver and the loss of morphological integrity of the hepatic parenchyma due to the presence of bacteria at a late stage of infection.
